Developing an End-to-End .NET-Connected Application with .NET

.NET has the power of connecting users through great software any time, any place and on any device. From starting from this vision in this project you will design and create a solution using multiple Microsoft .NET Enterprise Server products. The main focus of the project is to integrate .NET technologies into an effective solution.

The following products and technologies can be used in this project: VS.NET, ASP.NET, VB.NET, C#, XML Web Services, BizTalk, and SQL Server 2000.

Creating an e-Commerce Web Site Using Commerce Server and Content Management Server

In this project, you will design and create an e-Commerce web site for a virtual company of yours. You will need to use .NET Enterprise Servers to develop this project and Commerce Server is the main tool you will use in this project. You can make individual development with ASP.NET to extend the project as well. For the Content Management of products, campaigns, news, special offers from the web site you need to use Content Management Server. The Content Management Server Publishing Templates will help you to create this infrastructure.

You can design the architecture of Content Management Service and accelerate to cover creation, publishing, and management of templates to maximize information sharing within an organization. This project will provide solution for the deployment of information on internet. You can add fixed content to a page (logos, borders, footers), make fine tuning deployment, and share content between templates in your project.

Using Microsoft .NET Speech Technologies in a Web Application

Speech technology is delivering some very real benefits in real applications. The two key underlying technologies behind many projects are speech recognition (SR) and text-to-speech synthesis (TTS). Hands-free computing as an alternative to the keyboard makes revolutionary web sites. By Microsoft .NET Speech technologies you can use text-to-speech and speech-to-text easily in your applications.

In your project you have to use Speech Application Language Tags (SALT) based and Speech-Enabled Web Application. A more "human" computer, one users can talk to, may make educational and entertainment applications seem more friendly and realistic. And also Audio recordings are too large to store on disk or expensive to record. And in the applications content management Speech Software can be used also. Applications that require users to keyboard paper-based data into the computer (such as database front-ends and spreadsheets) are good candidates for a speech recognition application. Reading data directly to the computer is much easier for most users and can significantly speed up data entry.

Increase The Reuse Of Programmatic Resources by Using UDDI Services

The UDDI (Universal Description, Discovery, and Integration) Project is designed to define a set of specifications that will make it easier for businesses to accelerate the use of B2B and commerce over the Internet. UDDI does this by defining how companies can expose their business applications like ecommerce, order management, inventory, marketing, and billing as Web Services that can be directly and securely defined, discovered and integrated with business applications at trading partners and customers. Windows Server 2003 includes Enterprise UDDI Services, a dynamic and flexible infrastructure for Web services. This standards-based solution enables companies to run their own UDDI directory for intranet or extranet use.

In this project you will implement UDDI Services to increase the reuse of programmatic resources and reach information as a service from any client. You can use Smart Device Programmability and ASP.NET Mobile Controls also in this project.

Implementing .NET Passport into New and Existing Web Applications

In this project, you'll implement .NET Passport into new and existing web applications. You will learn about the architecture of .NET Passport and the Passport SDK.

You will integrate the .NET Passport into their ASP.NET-based web sites. You can authenticate users and retrieve user profile information from their Passport, rather than having to maintain that information locally. Passport is more than Single Sign In as we look at co-branding with Passport, Kids Passport, and Express Purchasing with Passport. Express Purchasing is supported by Passport, and you will have opportunity to learn how to pull payment and shipping information from the user's Passport.

Terminal Services Virtual Channels

As another option for designing distributed applications, you can use Windows Server 2003 Terminal Services. Terminal Services let you build extended solutions with Virtual Channels. Virtual channels are software extensions that can be used to add functional enhancements to a Terminal Services application. Examples of functional enhancements might include: support for special types of hardware, audio, or other additions to the core functionality provided by the Terminal Services Remote Desktop Protocol (RDP). The RDP protocol provides multiplexed management of multiple virtual channels. With this project you learn how to design, develop and deploy distributed solutions using Terminal Services and Virtual Channels.

Active Directory with .NET

Active Directory is the core element of Windows networking environment. In this project you will learn and investigate how the Active Directory works and what the objectives are while designing an Active Directory. In this project topic, you can implement a web interface with .NET (Active Directory Service Interfaces) for the Active Directory in order to make it manageable from the web. For example: If you can create mailing distribution list that also interacts with the Exchange Server 2003.

Internet Authentication Server (IAS)

Authentication process is becoming more and more important as the networking technologies are improving. Internet Authentication Server is used mainly to authenticate the users to the windows networking environment. In this project you will mainly learn the design decisions for IAS and types of implentations of IAS. An as example you can authenticate wireless users by using IAS, then by using IIS & .NET you can learn where the client is connected from, so that you can create location aware services like "show the nearest printer".

.NET Mobile Applications

In this project you can use Microsoft .NET Compact Framework to build a mobile application that runs on Windows CE.NET or Pocket PC powered devices. Your main tool should be Visual Studio .NET 2003 whereas you can also use XML Web Services for integration and SQL Server CE for data storage. Another mobile project can be done with Asp .NET Mobile Controls.

SQL Server 2000 Analysis Services

SQL Server 2000 Analysis Services is our main tool to rapidly access large datawarehouses. With Analysis Services you can build business intelligence applications that provide three dimensional data for decision support systems, front-end tools to analyze data in Analysis Services and decision support systems that use datamining capabilities of SQL Server 2000 Analysis Services.

Microsoft SharePoint Products and Technologies

When you create Web Parts Pages or develop Web Parts for Microsoft Windows SharePoint Services or Microsoft Office SharePoint Portal Server 2003, you may want to customize the user interface (UI). Windows SharePoint Services makes this task simpler for authors and developers in several ways. In this project you can develop Web Parts using Asp .NET to customize SharePoint.

.NET Enterprise Services

With Windows Server 2003 Microsoft launched Version 1.5 of COM+ with a lot of new features for developers to use COM+ with .NET Framework to build enterprise scale applications. If you pick up this project you should demonstrate features of COM+ to solve common business problems in a given scenario.
